Advising companies and governments

Project development
We like to put our knowledge into practice and are involved in the development and realisation of a large number of installations for bioenergy and bio-based raw materials. Through all stages, from the first idea to implementation, we assist with technical and financial expertise. With our knowledge of laws and regulations, we also take care of permit applications. We develop business plans on the basis of which financing can be requested. We can also assist you with applying for investments and operating grants such as SDE++.
Sustainability analyses
The use of bio-based raw materials is an important step towards a sustainable society. The sustainability requirements for biomass play an important role in this regard. For our customers, we perform greenhouse gas reduction calculations based on the European guidelines. To gain insight into the environmental impacts, we make use of specialized software for life cycle assessments (LCAs). Our field of work also covers cycle costing (LCCs) and socio-economic analyses. In this way too, we help our customers to give meaning to the circular economy.
Information & branding
How do you involve citizens in the transition to sustainable energy and green products? How do you highlight successful innovations and how do you ensure that they become part of the educational programme? How do you wake the interest of consumers towards bio-based products? These are all questions that we deal with on a daily basis, and of which we have gained experience through a variety of projects, ranging from information campaigns on the internet and wiki-websites for researchers to the development of serious games for the mobile phone.
Policy studies & scenario development
We support regional, national and European government agencies in adapting and shaping their policies. For example, we are active in drawing up the Regional Energy Strategy and the Heat Transition Vision. We create comprehensive roadmaps for the introduction of bio-based raw materials into the chemical industry. And we provide the EC with insight into the way in which biological sciences can contribute to biobased innovations.
CO2 trade and CCU
We have been developing emission reduction projects since 1998. First with our portfolio of bioheat boilers in the Czech Republic (Joint Implementation) and in Brazil (CDM). Our carbon consultancy service assists clients in obtaining carbon credits through systems such as VCS, Gold standard VER and CDM. In the Dutch market we are working on innovative projects in which CO2 is captured, stored and used (CCU). These projects are stimulated by the SDE++ scheme.
Due diligence
We regularly carry out due diligence assignments for investors, financers and project developers. This concerns new innovative processes as well as proven technologies and existing installations. In collaboration with our RTD department, we can make a detailed (process) technological analysis. We also map financial feasibility, biomass contracts, sale of products, environmental aspects and permits.
